“The poster’s winding maze, when travelled, represents the exact length of tape needed to record this album – 51.625 metres. If the path is cut from the poster, and left to hang in an tangled strip to the floor, one is able to touch a tangible representation of the length of tape needed to record the album.”

news…

( e ) v e n t is now specially opening at 8pm with free before 10pm, for the launch of Kite & Laslett’s ‘ENCLOSURE’ installation. Music for this period comes courtesy of Peter Adjaye who has just been added to the bill. Make sure to sign up to the mailing list or click attending on the facebook event page to get venue information.

Peter has been involved in the music scene as a composer, musician, DJ and recording artist for the last 20 years. In 1991 his wide-ranging musical abilities gave start to the visionary outfit RPM(or Revolution Per Minute)  releasing a string of singles on the fledgling Mo Wax imprint, and toured Europe alongside James Lavelle and DJ Shadow.

In 1995, he formed Runaways and also co-founded Ultimate Dilemma recordings, signing Zero 7 in 2000. Highly acclaimed singles led the way to the debut LP ‘Classic Tales’, a musical tour de force. The album featured striking cover art in the form of a painting of a calming, typically English pastoral scene. This attention to presentation was carried over to ‘Progress’, their 2nd album, where the duo enlisted the help of the Turner Prize winning artist Chris Ofili in providing cover artwork.

Musical taste, technical expertise and a massive library collection of rare records and highbrow sounds have proved to be the perfect recipe for Peter Adjaye.

His musical diversity and natural flare has brought him to work closely with his brother David Adjaye OBE writing music for Adjaye Associates presentations, lectures and installations. He has written the score or, better the ideal sound-companion to the Adjaye Associate exhibition the ‘Aysmmetric Chamber’ at the Cube Gallery  Manchester  and exhibited in places such as Harlem Museum in New York. In June 2005 marking the re launch (100th winner) and opening of the Nobel Institute in Norway, Oslo, Peter designed an interactive sound composition for the main winners ‘gallery’ known now as the Nobel Peace Field.

He has also played at the opening of the Idea Store in Whitechapel as well as having produced the music for the David Adjaye Exhibition ‘Making Public Buildings’ opening at Whitechapel Gallery in 2006.  He then composed a sound installation for Norman Foster’sAlbion Gallery exhibition entitled ‘Horizons’ in 2007

He has been recently presenting his evolving project ‘Music For Architecture’ at ‘Musicity’ at the Architecture Foundation, April 2011.

October 2011 sees Peter unveiling his new collaborative project with his brother David called entitled ‘African Metropolitan Music ‘, a compilation album and study alongside the release of David’s new book and study ‘Adjaye Africa Architecture’ on Thames Hudson in the UK with talks scheduled to take place during 2011 winter months at places such as Rough Trade and St Martins Art college in Kings Cross.

E N C L O S U R E  by Kite & LaslettThe concept of the installation is the design of an immersive sound and light installation. E N C L O S U R E consists of four suspended pyramidal volumes, arranged concentrically around the central node of the exhibition space. Each volume serves to emit sound and light towards the centre in a manner which inner and outer spatial areas are defined and separated. Standing at the node, the participant is blinded by light, thus focusing their perception towards sound. The projected sounds pass from one volume to next, creating a dissonant and ever evolving sound field. Standing in the path of the moving sounds a kinaesthetic sensation of sound passing through the body is produced. The piece will be the only source of lighting in the space providing a dramatic ambience. experience  E N C L O S U R E  at ( e ) v e n t  #001, friday 28th october. 8pm - 10pm: E N C L O S U R E  launch party10pm - 5am: ( e ) v e n t facebook event page
